London
London is one of the most important city in the world. It
has been the world's capital since the ancient times. From the Vikings, the
Romans and the colonial times also the industrial revolution. London is located
in Europe in the southern part of the island of Great Britain. It is both the
capital of England and the United Kingdom. Also it is one of the powerhouse of
economy in Europe.
The city is run by the famous river Thames. On it's bank
sit world-known landmarks which are the global tourist magnet. Tourists arrive
in one of the the world's most busiest airport, London Heathrow. There're also
London Gatwick and London City airport. Tourists can go to Tower Bridge which
was built around 120 years ago and drive across the beautiful Thames. The
London Eye can give a different view of the Thames as it is one of the biggest
ferriswheel in the world. In the modern side, London's downtown is full of
famous skyscrapers. Like the iconic cucumber shaped tower "The Gherkin"
and Europe's tallest tower "The Shard" as it is easy to be spotted
with its spear-like looking. World-known stadiums are also located in London
such as Wembley Stadium with it's known arch, London Olympic stadium with it's
hosting of the 2012 summer Olympic and Emirates stadium the home of Arsenal
F.C.
In the older part of London there are traditional
architectures. The most well-known is the Big Ben, as it is one of the biggest
clock tower. There're also Buckingham palace where the royalty of the kingdom
sit. Hyde park is a nice place for Londoners and foreigners to relax. London is
also filled with classic entertainments such as orchestras, theaters like
Shakespeare Globe. For getting around the city, London has an advance mass
rapid transit system called "The Tube" which zigzaged the city since
the 19th century.
The weather in London is quite similar to the places in
the Europe. It has 4 season through the year. In March until May London will
have Spring. June to August a sunny summer will come. September to November
autumn will make leafs orange as it’s identity and lastly in November, December
and January the season winter will make either blizzard or winter wonderland
with snow across London. The city is also one of the most rainy city in Europe.
London is a global city where cultures around the world
meets. More than 13.614.409 Londoners are consisted of English, polish, Indian,
African, Malayan and more ethnicities spread across 8,382 Km2 of
Metro Area London . This diversity made London a melting pot of tradition
especially cuisine. Here can be found English dishes like fish and chip,
puddings, muffin, pies, teas. Indian cuisine such as curry, Basmian rice and
more!
London isn't always about it's red double decker buses nor
telephone booths. London is a city as perfect as it is.
